FRISCO, Texas – The Frisco Fighters’ will honor Dallas Cowboys great Drew Pearson during its inaugural game on March 12 at Comerica Center.

The Frisco Fighters are Frisco’s new Indoor Football League team. In honoring Pearson, the Fighters are paying homage to one of the best players to ever play the game and a long-time Cowboys fan-favorite.

“Drew is a legend in our region and one of the all-time greats,” Fighters President/GM Stephen Evans said. “We all shared in his disappointment of not getting into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Our salute to Drew on March 12 will provide Frisco and the entire North Texas area a chance to show our admiration to someone whose career achievements and outstanding legacy will live on forever.”

Pearson will be honored throughout the first-ever contest for the Frisco Fighters as they host the reigning back-to-back champs of the Champions Indoor Football (CIF) league, the Duke City Gladiators. Throughout the game there will be special presentations made to the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor member by a number of former teammates and other NFL greats currently living in the area.

“We are proud to honor such a legend in this way,” Fighters head coach Clint Dolezel said. “He is one of the greatest receivers to play this game and he deserves to be recognized as such. And to give the public a platform to show their love and appreciation for Drew, I just think it’s going to be a very special night.”

Pearson shared his thoughts on being honored by the Fighters.

“First of all, I’m excited football is back in Frisco,” Pearson said. “Indoor football has a secure place in the big, wide world of sports. I’m also humbled that the organization would want to honor me in such a way. It’s going to be a great night!”

Pearson, who serves as the organization’s Chief Relationships Officer, is an ambassador for the team within Frisco and the region. Pearson will also lend his talents to Fighters television broadcasts this season, serving as an analyst for all televised Fighters games.

“The Fighters bring all of the key ingredients for franchise success,” Pearson said. “Great ownership, great management, great coaching, and talented players, and I’m glad to be part of it all.”
